The Yorkshire regional board has recognised that we currently don’t service the needs of a large section of the British Cycling Membership. Some of this, we feel is down to communication. We are concerned that some members are not being fully informed of the Community Programmes and ride opportunities that take place in our region.
After discussion with the regional board, we feel that there is an opportunity to bring together selected board members, ride leaders and active individuals in the area to bring better cohesion between the two, and remind our cycling community that, we are “Your Board too.”
Aims and Objectives
To form a working group to better communicate, promote best practice, share ideas and help service the needs of the non-competitive member.
This would then enable the group to:
• Open channels for all British Cycling volunteers within the region to engage with “Their Regional Board” and have their say on matters that are important to them.
• Involve and inspire ride leaders and members to better engage with the regional board and its initiatives.
• Create clearer communication channels and highlight to volunteers the opportunities that are available to them in their area.
• The aim is to form this group early in 2025.
