British Cycling Yorkshire will once again be entering a team into the Youth Tour of Scotland in 2022. The team will comprise of 4 boys and 4 girls from Youth A (girls from Youth B can also apply). We will also nominate a non travelling reserve for both the boys and girls teams. The event takes place between the 1st and 4th of April.

The Youth Tour of Scotland is a residential stage race, taking place in the beautiful Perthshire countryside. This four day event welcomes youth teams from across the UK and further afield to compete across four stages. Jerseys are awarded for general classification, points, king and queen of the mountains, team and Scottish rider competitions. The event offers the unique opportunity for youth riders to race on fully closed road stages and is a great development opportunity for ambitious young riders.

The region will appoint a team manager and coach for the event. Most of the entry fees, accommodation, meals and transport costs will be covered by British Cycling Yorkshire. As this is an early season event, its will not be easy to select the team as we won’t have any results from this year to look at before the team has to be selected. This means selection will be based on last years results, plus results from this season’s cyclocross events plus regional winter training sessions.

If you are interested in being part of the team, please email Ian O’Brien the following:

• Best three road results from last year plus two cyclocross results from this season if you have them.

• Please also confirm if you are a first or second year A or B (only Youth A boys should apply). Please email to: ian.obrien25@virginmedia.com

• All riders applying should hold a current British Cycling licence with Yorkshire as the specified region.

• The deadline for applications is Friday 28th January 2022.
