In 2023, British Cycling Yorkshire will support teams for each of the three inter-regional championships, Road, Track and Mountain Bike. Detailed below are details for the three events as well as the selection criteria.
Inter-regional Mountain Bike Championships
Fresh from hosting the World Championships, Glasgow will host the Inter Regional Mountain Bike Champs at Cathkin Braes between the 2nd and 3rd September. The team will be made up of two boys and two girls, boys should be youth A, girls can be second year youth B or youth A. The team will travel to the event on Friday 1st September and return after the event on Sunday 3rd September. Day 1 will consist of practice, skills competition, individual time trial and short track. Day 2 will consist of practice, team relay and XCO.
British Cycling Yorkshire will cover all costs for the event including entry fees, accommodation and meals. We are asking that parents organise travel for the riders to the event.
Inter-regional Road Championships
The Inter Regional Road Championships will be held at Castle Combe between the 16th and 17th September. The team will be made up of four boys and four girls, boys should be youth A, girls can be second year youth B or youth A. The team will travel to the event on Friday 15th September and return after the event on Sunday 17th September.
British Cycling Yorkshire will cover all costs for the event including entry fees, accommodation and meals. We are asking that parents organise travel for the riders to the event.
Inter-regional Track Championships
Fresh from hosting the World Championships, Glasgow will host the Inter Regional Track Champs at The Glasgow Velodrome between the 23rd and 24th September. The team will be made up of four boys and four girls, boys should be youth A, girls can be second year youth B or youth A. The team will travel to the event on Friday 22nd September and return after the event on Sunday 24th September. The event will include sprint and endurance events including Match Sprint, Keirin, Scratch, Elimination, Team Sprint, Team Pursuit and Madison.
British Cycling Yorkshire will cover all costs for the event including entry fees, accommodation and meals. We are asking that parents organise travel for the riders to the event.
Selection Criteria
The selection of all three teams will be made by The British Cycling Yorkshire Selection Panel. A team manager and coach will be appointed for each event. Overall factors which may affect selection include:
• Availability.
• Personal behaviour and/or discipline.
• Application, ability and attitude displayed at Regional Schools of Racing and/or other training events promoted by the region.
• Performances in specific race series/competitions specified below.
The following events / race series will be used as a basis for selection for each of the three regional teams:
Inter-regional Mountain Bike Championships:
• 2023 National MTB Cross Country Series
• 2023 British Cross Country Championships (Tong, Bradford)
• 2023 Yorkshire Cyclocross Summer Series
Inter-regional Road Championships:
• 2023 National Youth Circuit Series
• 2023 White Rose Youth League
Inter-regional Track Championships:
• 2023 Youth Omnium Series
• 2023 Youth Omnium Final
Selection dates
The team for the Inter-regional MTB Championships will be selected no later than Monday 24th July.
The team for the Inter Regional Road Champs will be selected no later than Wednesday 12th July.
The team for the Inter-regional Track Championships will be selected no later than Monday 17th July.
